I received THE email! The one that takes your breath away. The one that you have to read over and over again a few times to make sure you’d read it properly the first time. The one that says, ‘We would love to publish your book.’
 
It’s always exciting to receive a document outlining a publisher’s intentions to publish your picture book. I am living proof that the good old slush pile really does work.
 
The illustrator is a talented Australian artist, Melissa Mackie. Her work is amazing and I’m thrilled to be teaming up with her on this project. I’ve only seen a sample illustration so far but I’m already blown away by her talent. I can’t wait to see more!
 
Remember, persistence is key. Rejection is crushing but you should never let it get you down. This is part of your journey to success. It’s a long road but it’s worth it!
